Spring is one of the top 3 providers of IT contractors in the UK and provides a range of workforce management services and solutions. As part of a continuing drive for efficiency and innovation, Spring had been developing their business delivery model and e-commerce platform.
CCL was originally brought in to provide operational resource and expertise to help free up the resource management centre director to focus on these development activities. In the process of this work CCL identified and implemented a number of quick wins including two significant changes to the business process, which aided internal communication and expectation management.
CCL were then asked to provide assistance in helping plan the implementation of the strategy and work with the Regional Directors to modify the business plan in line with the updated strategy. Part of this work involved facilitating meetings between the regions and central resources in order to decide the best operational strategy. We also helped identify both the costs and returns of the business model to ensure that the overall business objectives could be achieved within that financial year.
Having completed this operational planning work CCL were then asked to help scope out a project to define and document the new e-commerce business model, designed to be rolled out on an international basis. This work involved bringing together a lot of the historic and current strategic thinking into a multi-stranded and co-ordinated plan, working with the relevant Spring managers to optimise the use of existing know-how and also introduce additional current benchmarking and operational data.
CCL were then asked to help project manage the production of a proposal for a global services contract and bring together various disparate documents and know-how in a coordinated, high quality and presentable way. CCL needed to understand the technical elements of the bid and help structure a commercially sound response. The bid document was successfully written within a very short time period and to a good standard.
Overall the bid met the customer’s requirement and was produced on time, utilising senior peoples’ time as economically as possible. CCL provided Spring with a flexible and knowledgeable resource which was able to step in to fill short-term requirements and operate at both an operational and strategic level; working with internal Spring managers and also substituting for them as necessary.
